Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport

The largest number of flights took off for Turkey, while Egypt had six times more charter flights than the year before

Last summer, as many as 2,864 charter flights took off from the Belgrade airport, which is an absolute record-breaking season ever since the Serbian travel agencies have been organizing the package deals. By comparison, in 2017, as many as 1,337 charter flights to the Mediterranean were recorded. However, desitnations with our tourists on board were pretty much interesting.

Two years ago, travel agencies sent 116 planes with Serbian tourists to Turkey (then Antalya only). The following year, in 2018, the number more than doubled – 331 charter flights! This year’s season was over a month ago, and from May to the end of October, our tourists used 1,109 charter flights to Turkey! Most flights were booked for Antalya (866), Bodrum (179) and Dalaman (64). Unofficially, agencies will be looking for flights to Izmir for the next summer season.
As many as 824 charter flights went to Greek resorts in the Aegean, Ionian and Mediterranean seas last summer. Most (155) landed in Corfu, followed by Crete (128), Rhodes (119) and Skjatos (114).

The real winner of the season is Egypt, which has hosted six times more Serbian tourists than the year before! Moreover, 118 planes flew to the Red Sea last year, and this year nearly six times more, i.e., as many as 700 of them! Interestingly, in addition to Hurghada, our tourists returned to Sharm el-Sheikh and started cruising the Nile again, wheras a new Marsa Alam resort was opened in southern Egypt. Moreover, one should bear in mind the fact that the season in this country lasts 365 days, i.e., all year round.
