Serbia offers about 2,000 medical services, from examination and diagnostics to various medical interventions and the prices are even five times lower than in Western countries.
Travels for medical reason became hit in recent years and the greatest interest is in the local dentists, plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, orthopedists and physiatrists, cardiologists, but also in the rehabilitation in spas. Many foreigners changed their gender in Serbia and they decide also to have more complicated operations in cardiac and neuro surgery, due to the good prices.
The medicine and tourism combination is an innovation in Serbia and has got a high growth rate. It is anticipated about five percent of the international tourists visiting Serbia do so for medical reasons. In the total medical tourism turnover structure, 40 percent are dental services, 42 percent orthopedics, cardiology, cardiac and neuro surgery and 15 percent is esthetic surgery.
