East Sarajevo offers everything for the simple reason that it has facilities for every taste and for all seasons. The springs are magical, when the snows from Jahorina begin to melt and many rivers and mountain streams begin to wake up with greenery and flowers in the valleys. Here, the air is breathed to the fullest, because the summers are fresh and pleasant.
Some would say that East Sarajevo only has no seashore… And it is true, there is no sea, but there are “beaches” and swimming areas, of which the lake on Ravna planina stands out in particular. Also, it is an incredible feeling to ride a pedal boat on the top of Jahorina, at almost 2000 meters above sea level, and then descend from the top on one of the longest Alpine coasters in this part of Europe. There are also faster waters here – kayaking on Bioštica river near Romanija is an incredible story. And speaking of the incredible and Romania, get ready for incredible views and wide horizons. Via ferrata on Romania and the experience it provides are something that will be told for years. No one remained indifferent, neither experienced mountaineers and alpinists, nor recreationists and tourists who are not prone to big adventures. Yes, it’s true, someone likes adventure, someone likes comfort by the fireplace and the beauty of the mountain environment… Especially with a glass of homemade rakija brandy or the famous Romanian lamb on a spit or under the stove. The gastronomic story of this region is a never-ending story. That story is told not so much in words as in the reactions of visitors who try some of the local specialties. Admittedly, there is no shortage of international cuisine specialties here, especially in the world-class hotels in Jahorina.
This place is magical. So much expanse of untouched nature and forests that are mixed, evergreen and deciduous. Looking from Jahorina towards Ravna planina and the Prača valley when autumn comes is a story painted in a thousand colors. This is the story that the wind and the leaves here have been telling for centuries. It doesn’t take long, and then all those colors turn cheerfully white. Thousands of skiers, adventurers and tourists move along Jahorina trails. Everyone is welcome at Jahorin and there is room for everyone. Jahorina boasts first-class alpine and Nordic trails for day or night skiing. The trails are adapted both for beginners and for fans of more extreme skiing. In addition, a panoramic gondola ride or a six-seater ride stands out, and the mountain is decorated according to the standards of world ski resorts and boasts ski lifts, schools, rentals and luxury hotels with a good night’s entertainment. This is the mountain on which the XIV Winter Olympic Games were held, however, it is so enriched with content, as is the entire city of East Sarajevo, that it can soon organize the Summer Olympics as well. Tracks for walking, cycling and quad riding, as well as sports halls in Pale and Istočno Novo Sarajevo are one of the reasons why world teams come here for sports training. Thus East Sarajevo became the city of world champions. The favorite and very frequent guests here are the men’s and women’s volleyball team of Serbia, as well as the most famous tennis player in the world, Novak Djokovic (after whom a ski slope on Jahorina is named). East Sarajevo was not created overnight. Many roads have converged here since antiquity. The Middle Ages were quite rich, and this is confirmed by the numerous remains of former towers and cities that still defy time today, as well as other archaeological finds. Some of these artefacts were found in many caves of this region, which with their decorations have become real tourist attractions, but are still guardians of endemic animal species.
So many choices, so much content in one place are the reason why it can rightly be said that East Sarajevo is a city that offers everything.
